The author presents 6 cases of the severe exfoliative dermatitis, whom the author met and observed in the Out-patient Clinic, Seoul National University Hospital, by the experiences of their treatment for four years 1955 to 1958. 1) As for their ctiology and types of the dermatitis, respectively, there are 1 case of seeondary exfoliative dermatitis due to salvarsan injection, 1 case due to penicillin, 1 case due to herb medicine and 2 cases mostly similar to subacute exfoliative dermatits "Wilson-Brocq". 2) All the patients, even severe, were converted in to the good result of recovery for their skin lesion by maintaining fluid balance, sufficient administration of vitamins and adequate symptomatic treatment to the important internal organs. 3) By hematologic examination, the author oberved leucocytosis and eosinophilia in all the cases And also by urine analysis, the author obsrerved the oliguria in all the cases. And thus the author found that the severity of pathology related and paralleled the findings of bematology and urine examination. 4) As the practical significance of cortisone for the treatment of the exfoliative dermatitis, cortisone may considered to be mostly available to shorten the duration of its treatment through my observation.
